FCE (Cambridge English: First) This is an intermediate level exam, requiring competence in all the language skills. It offers an upper-intermediate language qualification for people wishing to work or study in an English speaking country or organisation or to cope easily as a tourist in an English speaking country. FCE is the most widely taken exam and has the most widespread recognition. It is taken for employment and study purposes and it usually requires 500 – 600 hours of learning. FCE for Schools
The First Certificate in English for Schools is a version of the well-known FCE exam. It follows exactly the same format as FCE and is designed for school-age learners, offering an upper-intermediate language qualification for those who want to study in an English speaking country. Updated version of the popular Cambridge English: First and First for Schools exams starting in January 2015
The exams have been updated in order to ensure that they reflect the latest research into language learning and assesment and also meet the needs of teachers, learners, and those who rely on them for higher education and employment recruitment.

Certificate in Advanced English - C1 level*
This exam indicates an advanced level of competence in English, suitable for those who require English for professional or study purposes. It is recognised by the majority of UK universities for English language entrance requirements. Check out the exam content.

As a result of the cooperation between the Ministry of National Education, British Council and Cambridge ESOL, we are pleased to announce that the Ministry of Education will continue to recognise Cambridge English Advanced (CAE) exam as the highest level English competency qualification for state high school leavers who study English in a bilingual learning system and extends this recognition to the intensive learning system too. Moreover, starting from January 2013, state schools can register their students for the CAE exam with a 10% discount on the entry fee, if they provide official proof that the group of students study in an English intensive or bilingual learning system. - Certificate of Proficiency in English - C2 level*
CPE is a very advanced level exam approaching a standard of English similar to that of an educated native speaker. As such it fulfils entry requirements for university study in English language and is recognised by UK universities, many universities in other English-speaking countries and by other professional bodies worldwide.
In 2013 Cambridge English Assessment is introducing a new, revised edition of the exam to mark the 100th anniversary of the first CPE examination. This new version is the result of a comprehensive review of the exam completed over a number of years. The new specifications for the exam along with a sample paper can be found in the Information for Candidates brochure (PDF, 690 KB).

If you are a preparation centre who wishes to make registrations for the Cambridge exams, please use this template (MS Excel, 55 KB) and email it to contact@britishcouncil.ro, along with the proof of payment. Please send the entry forms and copies of ID by post or courier to the Examinations Department.
According to the HG 2185/2004 regarding the approval of the methodological norms for applying the regulations of art. 5 and 6 from the Government's Decree no 15/1996, the British Council as a legal person cannot collect cash from another legal person if the amount is larger than RON 5,000/ day.
