WHAT IS IELTS?
Recognition and validity
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. It covers the four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking.
 Test format and results

Format
IELTS is available in two formats: Academic and General Training.

Results
Results are released 13 days after the test. It is not permitted to give results out over the phone or by fax or e-mail.

Test dates

We conduct testing sessions once a month in Bucharest and twice a year in Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara.

Registrations take place about 6 weeks before the test date.

 How can I register?
Registration means submitting the completed application form, two recent passport-size photos, a copy of the identity card that you intend to present on the test day, and paying the test fee.

How can I prepare for the test?
IELTS preparation materials are available for sale and lending at the British Council Bucharest and in our branch libraries in Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Timisoara.

 Enquiry on result
If you are unhappy with your results you may apply for an Enquiry on Results procedure within 4 weeks of the release of the results.
