Between 29 September and 14 October the UK theatre company dreamthinkspeak offers in Sibiu a unique experience as part of the British Days programme. DON’T LOOK BACK, their 50-60 minute long performance is inspired by one of the greatest of all ancient myths, Orpheus and Eurydice. DON’T LOOK BACK, created in 9 extremely different sites will be created at Sibiu in the City Hall proposing a touching journey trough public and private areas.

Founded in1999, dreamthinkspeak has achieved significant critical success with work in conventional and unconventional settings. The company create work that responds sensitively to space, interweaving live performance with light, film, text, and sound to create extraordinary journeys for audiences that are visually layered and challenging but also accessible.

Premiered a couple of years ago as part of the Lume dance performance presented by the British Council at the BucharEST International Dance Festival, Ready "Modern" Made can be enjoyed by dance lovers in Sibiu on Tuesday 28 August, 19.00, at Pavilion 2007.
The piece is choreographed by Florin Fieroiu and performed by Carmen Cotofana, with live music interpreted by Vlaicu Golcea.

The production is a non-commercial adaptation of second-year students from the Theatre Academy, class of Adrian Pintea (the cast) and students of the Music Academy (the orchestra). A true music-hall legend, the “Jesus Christ Superstar” opera tells the story of Jesus’ last days, as they were seen by Judas and was created by Tim Rice (lyrics) and Andrew Lloyd Webber |
(music). The ten shows will take place at ArCuB, on July 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19 and the entrance is free. The project is supported by British Council.

Premiered in the UK and touring to Romania with the support of the British Council, The Island by Alexander Balanescu and Ada Milea is a humourous piece of theatre-music illustrating the poems of surrealist Romanian poet Gellu Naum. The performance will travel to Sibiu, as part of the International Theatre Festival (May 27, Thalia Hall), and then will follow Bistrita (May 28, Casa de Cultura), Cluj (May 29, Casa Universitarilor, Auditorium Maximum Hall), Timisoara (May 30, Club 30). The tour will end with two performances in Bucharest, on June 2, at the Amfiteatru Hall of Bucharest National Theatre. |

British Council, UNITER’s publishing house UNITEXT and ARCUB will launch on Thursday, April 27, 2006, The Actor and the Target by Declan Donnellan. The book will be launched in the presence of the author, an exceptional British director, joint founder of Cheek by Jowl Company, who has directed many Shakespeare |
productions, famous all over the world. Declan Donnellan came to Romania to present Twelfth Night in the International Shakespeare Festival, 2006.
Ion Caramitru, Director General of the Bucharest National Theatre, President of UNITER, Liliana Biglou, Director British Council, Ioana Ieronim, Writer, Marian Popescu, Theatre Critic, who wrote the book’s introduction, Honorary Director of UNITEXT and Mihaela Paun, Director ARCUB will participate in the launch and speak about the book and the personality of the British director.
The Actor and the Target, considered to be the first real theatre book after the works of some famous predecessors, such as Peter Brook and K.S. Stanislavski, is a map that helps the actor find the target, the one thing that justifies what the actor is, does, feels, tells, plays. The Romanian translation was done by Saviana Stanescu and Ioana Ieronim.
