The British Council in Qatar offers engaging and dynamic English courses for children and young learners (from 7 to 17 years old). Courses take place throughout the year, and are designed to build the students’ confidence and ability in English, as well as their broader academic and learning skills.
We offer progressive levels of courses, divided into three age groups:
- 7-10 years (Junior)
- 11-14 years (Senior)
- 15-17 years (Young Adult)
Students will be placed in a suitable class for both their age and ability, after a written placement test and a short oral interview with a teacher.
The British Council’s young learner courses are taught by highly-qualified teachers who are experienced in teaching children and teenagers. Our communicative teaching methodology provides young learners with a fun, interesting and challenging learning environment, while focusing on the core skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students also keep a portfolio of their best work, which they bring home at the end of term as an example of what they have achieved during lessons.
Your child will get a certificate upon the successful completion of the course. You will also receive a report card detailing your child’s progress and their strengths and weaknesses in English.
Young Learner courses include 30 hours of classroom time, spread over ten weeks. Classes are one and a half hours, twice a week (Sunday / Tuesday or Monday / Wednesday).
All classes take place at the British Council building in Al Saad.
Our course schedule broadly follows the local school calendar, starting and ending in September. The dates of upcoming courses are:
All Young Learners courses cost QAR 2,300 and placement tests cost QAR 50.
