Leadership In Community Development

Leadership in Community Development (LICD) is the transformational leadership programme that the British Council is running in Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Tunisia, Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Algeria, and the UK.

We aim to develop a powerful network of like-minded leaders to contribute to positive social change in their individual communities.

“LICD” is distinct from other leadership training in that it inspires individuals to identify themselves as leaders and equips them with the tools to engage constructively and enable them to remove the barriers to positive social change within their communities.

This exciting new programme will be an innovative journey that brings participants in the involved countries together with their peers in the UK to share learning, good practice and encourage debates that inspire people to action.

In 2008/09 a successful pilot programme ran between Egypt, Jordan, and Scotland involving 125 participants’. We have been running the. InterAction.programme since 2003 in Sub-Saharan Africa. To date over 3,000 participants from 19 countries have completed the course.
