Jointly Chevening / University of Edinburgh / Birzeit University Scholarships

What is the Chevening/University of Edinburgh/Birzeit University scholarship scheme?

The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and the University of Edinburgh have decided to collaborate in a scheme to provide jointly-funded Chevening Scholarships for Palestinians who are graduates of Birzeit University who are wishing to study in the United Kingdom

Candidates’ conditions of eligibility

*Must be a graduate of Birzeit University
*Display intellectual ability and leadership potential
*Have an adequate standard of English i.e. 6.5 marking or over in IELTS( but exceptionally pre-sessional English language training might be provided subject to the merits each case
*Age 25-35
*Already hold a degree of an equivalent standard to at least a good UK second-class Honour degree
*Have proven track record and potential to rise a position influence
*Not already have received or currently receiving financial benefit from a previous HMG funded scholarship

What subjects can I study?

You can apply to any subject at University of Edinburgh

How many Chevening scholarships are available to Palestinians?

Up to two scholarships for graduates of Birzeit University

What does the scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers the following:

  Tuition fees (up to a maximum of £12,400)
  Gratis student visa
  Pre-departure briefing from the British Council
  Arrival allowances
  Thesis allowances
  A monthly allowance to cover living expenses
  Travel costs to and from the UK
  Scholarships do not cover the costs for accompanying family
