CHOIR OF LONDON TRUST BURSARY SCHEME

The Choir of London Trust Bursary is a new scheme operated by the Choir of London in partnership with the British Council and the Qattan Foundation. The scheme will enable up to four Palestinian student musicians to pursue two weeks of intensive musical study in the UK in August 2008.

Successful candidates will:

Have individual timetables tailored to suit their needs.
Spend one week at the National Chamber Music Course in Hitchin, Hertfordshire.
Receive tuition at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Attend concerts in London including BBC Promenade Concerts at the Royal Albert Hall.

How can I apply?

Applications for this scheme are teacher led.  Teachers should put forward students who:

Are aged 12-18.
Have studied an instrument for a minimum of one continuous year as at 1 August 2008.
Are playing, violin, viola, cello or double bass.

Students who have little or no ensemble experience are welcome to apply for the scheme.  This should be indicated clearly in section 3 of the application to ensure that, if selected, the candidate receives suitably tailored tuition.

What does the scheme cover?

Airport transfers, flights.
Tuition fees.
Accommodation and subsistence in the UK.
During the two weeks, all meals will be provided for students, including packed lunches where necessary.
Transport in the UK.

Students need to take with them a limited amount of money to buy food and drink on the journey to and from the airport, and will probably want to bring a small amount of additional spending money with them for souvenirs and snacks while in the UK.
