As part of the e-learning project we are running a series of videoconference forums to bring together Palestinian and UK education specialists who are leading change in e-learning to:
share experiences in strategic leadership in e-learning and how they have made differences in their own institutions |
provide an opportunity to explore issues for the future development of e-learning in Palestinian education |
This initiative is the first of its kind in the Palestinian Territories bringing together practitioners from West Bank, Gaza, and the UK using video conferencing technology to support education reform.
A series of forums were organised in which Palestinian and UK e-Learning practitioners were provided with the opportunity to discuss different issues related to e-Learning in Higher Education in Palestine.
The first VC forum brought together the experience of Islamic University of Gaza- Middlesex University pilot project participants with partners from the Ministry of Education and other Palestinian and UK Universities.
The second forum was a pre-conference workshop during last year’s Association for Learning Technology (ALT)’s annual conference ALT-C 2005: exploring the frontiers of e-learning - borders, outposts and migration. This was followed by a third forum in June 2006 in which participants shared experiences in strategic leadership in e-Learning and discussed the development of e-learning in Palestinian Higher Education.
During the upcoming forum in September 2006, practitioners will be discussing with ALT’s international membership the challenges facing the development of e-Learning in Higher Education in Palestine.
This forum is part of the initial preparations for the ALT’s annual conference ALT-C 2006: The Next Generation to be held on the 5 September 2006 at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. Four Palestinian representatives will be attending the ALT conference.
