Listen: Motivation in the workplace
Motivation in the workplace
by Katherine Bilsborough

What motivates people to work harder, more productively, or to be loyal to their company?  Is it money?  Is it responsibility?  Is it having a good working atmosphere?  How can this motivation be encouraged?

In this article you can:

  • Read about four current theories of motivation - some actually contradictory.  See which ones you agree with, which ones you disagree with completely.
  • See how well you have understood the theories.
  • Learn some related vocabulary.
  • Listen to a professor of Business Studies talking about motivation and see if what is said is also true for you.
  • Check your comprehension.
  • Practise some prepositions.
