Online learning

Distance courses have existed for a long time. Until fairly recently these consisted of books, videos, cassettes and worksheets - all delivered to the learner by post. Support was provided by tutors who marked the assignments, returning them again by post.  Today most distance courses are delivered via the internet, tutor support too is provided via the web. Online learning communities have removed a lot of the isolation that distance learners used to experience. Some things haven't changed, however. Motivation, self-discipline and the availability of study time are issues that have always faced distance learners.
