FCE listening 4 - Keeping fit

Here you listen to people having a conversation and practise identifying who is speaking, as well as the meaning of what they are saying. There is also practice on listening to intonation.

1 Identifying the speaker

In part 4 of the FCE listening paper you may hear three people having a conversation and be asked to identify who said what. It's important that you are able to identify who is speaking. When there are two speakers of the same sex, they will have clearly different accents, or be different ages. It is important to try and find the difference as soon as possible.

You will hear the beginning of a conversation between Jane, Claire and Tom. Listen and decide what each speaker says.

2 Understanding what is being said

As well as understanding the words that are said, when we listen we also have to understand the meaning or emotion in the speaker's intonation, for example; surprise or anger. Listen to each short extract and decide the meaning or emotion behind the speaker's words.

3 Keeping Fit

Listen to Jane, Claire and Tom talking about keeping fit and answer the nine multiple-choice questions.
