Football managers are at least partially responsible for the movement of very large amounts of money as the teams they manage win - or lose - important matches, win - or lose - cups and leagues.  So what characteristics go into the making of a good manager?  And how do aspiring managers begin?  When professional footballers retire it is at a relatively young age and management is the route taken by many.
