The Migrant Integration Policy Index is an exciting new tool to present the integration policies of the EU member states in a format which is concise, transparent and comparable.
The Migrant Integration Policy Index (MIPEX) presents scores for each Member State on over 130 indicators in six key areas of integration policy: political participation, anti-discrimination, long-term residence, nationality, family reunion and access to the labour market. The Index was published in October 2007.
Produced biannually, the report is a British Council and Migrant Policy Group initiative, supported by over 20 local partner institutions. This project is co-financed by the European Community under the INTI Programme Preparatory Actions for the Integration of Third Country Nationals.
Events around the MIPEX in the form of presentations, publication launches or open discussions, took place in cities around Europe. In Portugal the MIPEX was presented on 16 October 2007 at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, our local partner institution.
The events, which ran until March 2008, widened the impact of the research, consolidate the network, and stimulate debate and the exchange of good practice. The next report will be published in 2009.
