English courses for children

When and Where
Courses for children run for the academic year from the end of September to the middle of June.

Course Content
We want our students to develop a positive attitude towards learning a foreign language.

Students completing these courses progress to the young learner courses.

Approach and methodology
We consider it very important that students from the very beginning develop the strategies and competencies they need to ensure their motivation and success in learning the language.

Our teachers have specialist primary training and one of the teachers has special responsibilities as co-ordinator of the children’s levels. This Young Learner coordinator helps to supervise and guarantee the quality of teaching and learning in these classes, providing support on questions of pedagogy and discipline, managing resources and developing new ideas and materials.

In this way we aim to ensure that the process of learning and progress through the levels is transparent and coherent.

Students have a wide variety of resources at their disposal including the library, computer room, and self-access computers, which will help to make their learning entertaining and motivating.

Each level has a course book and in addition students will receive a portfolio of materials which will support their learning

The maximum class size for these levels is 12, parents can choose between classes twice a week or a double class once a week.

Information for parents
Throughout the course students are monitored at all levels.

At the end of each term parents will receive a report detailing their child’s progress.

Contact with parents is not restricted to special days - the Parents’ Days at the end of each term - but it is available whenever necessary, either because the teacher has noticed absences or problems with a student’s progress or because the parents request it.
