From 1 September 2010 the British Centre at the Nicholas Copernicus Universty in Toruń also hosts a British Council Examination Centre. The centre is based in the inconspicuous building of Student Dormitory No 3, located on the student estate “Centre”. This is situated near to the Bielany-based campus and the Royal Town in Toruń. Once the Centre - where at present there is a rich collection of British literature and films – was a party venue as the student Maritime Club was based there. Today plenty of events take place in the British Centre but instead of noise the offer includes valuable lectures about British culture and projects run by the British Council. This is also an information point about English language examinations.
There are two friendly and customer-oriented individuals working in the Centre: Krzysztof Strzemeski and Magdalena Olecka (exams administrator). Magdalena is the head of the British Centre at the University in Torun. She is a fan of film, art, travelling and social meetings – and that explains why she is responsible for all the events that take place at 16/20 Moniuszki St.
