I arrived in Poland in 1999 after a year in Thessaloniki. Since then I have lived and taught in Bialystok, Gdynia and Krakow. I have been a freelancer at the British Council for almost a year. My wife was born and raised in Krakow and we expect to live here for the foreseeable future.
As well as teaching, I sometimes translate for such organisations as Wydawnictwo Literackie and the Academy of Music. I also write promotional material and do translations for local record label NotTwo Records. I have contributed articles in English to such publications as the Krakow Post, Jazzwise and Songlines and such websites as allaboutjazz.com, sogonow.com and rootsworld.com as well as articles in Polish to Miesiac w Krakowie.
I also perform freely improvised music on saxophone with a trio called Dziadur Maler and Palmer. We have played for silent films at the Slowacki Theatre, Cricoteka and Krzysztofory.
