Since January 2011 the new British Council Examination Centre is based in Słupsk in a convenient city area, at 3 Maja Street. It is hosted by the Oxford Language Centre, which has 20 years experience in teaching English as a foreign language. Language courses are provided for all age groups and the youngest pupils are 5 year old. Furthermore, many of its students can pride themselves on their laureate titles obtained in English competitions and contests.
The Oxford Language Centre prepares its students for the renowned Cambridge ESOL examinations. In its second year of market activity (i.e.in 1991) a group of 11 students completed a preparatory course and then received positive marks in the FCE certificate. The youngest learner from the Oxford Language Centre to have taken the FCE exam was a first-year gymnasium pupil while the CAE exam was passed by gymnasium pupil from the second grade.
Łukasz Butkiewicz, the exams co-ordinator in Słupsk, pursues his second (after English language teaching) hobby which is tennis, his favourite sport. In 2010 he and his father launched a tennis club in Słupsk – the Oxford Academy of Tennis - where they popularise this well known game (thanks to the two tennis courts and tennis halls on the Academy’s premises ).
