CELTA KRAKOW
OUR TRAINERS

The courses are run by an experienced Cambridge ESOL-recognised team, who have established a highly successful track-record for conducting CELTA courses in Poland and beyond; their CELTA graduates can be found teaching English around the world. Their trainees have invariably given very positive feedback about the style and delivery of the courses. The tutors can be contacted on CELTA@britishcouncil.pl

MAGDA MARKIEWICZ

I am Magda Markiewicz. I have been running CELTA courses since 1996 and have worked for a number of different centres in Europe including IH Kraków (Cracow), International House, London, IH Palma de Majorca (Spain), and IH Barcelona.  I also helped to set up the CELTA centre at the University of Masaryk (Brno, Czech Republic). As a CELTA assessor I have visited different CELTA centres in Europe and gained invaluable insights and experience. Recently, with two of my colleagues, we set up a new CELTA centre at the British Council in Kraków.
What I enjoy most about training is being able to support and assist trainees in their professional and emotional growth and development during the course.
In my free time, I go for long hikes in the woods to re-charge my batteries and maintain my enthusiasm for working with the trainees on CELTA courses!

BARBARA WOŹNIAK

Hello, my name is Barbara Woźniak.  I’ve been involved in teacher training since 1994. In my 20 years EFL career - as a teacher and a Director of Studies (previously at International House) I have worked with learners of all levels and ages and have helped teachers in their work. I gained plenty of experience that I wish to share with you during CELTA courses. I‘d like to help you discover teaching techniques that make teacher’s work exciting and very rewarding.
In my spare time I go to my favourite yoga classes and practice ballroom dancing. I also love skiing and cycling. Since I have worked as a guide of Kraków; I can assure you of one thing: Kraków is a fascinating town!

DECLAN COOLEY

He has taught business, academic and examination English in various schools and institutes of higher education, both in Poland and abroad, and served as assistant director of studies as well as academic manager in summer schools in the UK. He became a CELTA tutor in 2003 and has since been involved as a tutor on over 60 CELTA courses, helping to train well over 600 teachers, and has been involved in training up new trainers.  He has been resident in Krakow since 1997.
“The CELTA courses are the only educational experience I have been part of that involves such rapid change in people’s skills and confidence in such a short period and I am very happy to be able to join in on the process.”
“Krakow is a human-sized city which captures you straightaway as you navigate the maze-like streets around the medieval square. I always notice new eye-opening details on facades I have passed innumerable times before, the city seeming to have infinite layers of texture, colour and character.”
