Radek Miszczak – the winner of the Polish final of the International Young Music Entrepreneur Award
Radek Miszczak is the winner of the Polish stage of the International Young Music Entrepreneur’09 (IYME). In May this year he represented Poland in the UK during the world final of the competition.
The Jury of the competition consisting of Monika Klonowska from Good Music Productions, Monika Dzik from the British Embassy in Warsaw and Agnieszka Wrycza from the British Council has chosen the winner out of dozens of candidates. Although the level of the competition was very high, the members of the judging panel unanimously selected Radek Miszczak for the Polish winner as he astonished them with his incomparable enthusiasm for his work and vast experience on the Polish music market.
Radek Miszczak proved he combines a great business potential and passion for music, which together form a key to real success in music business – said Monika Klonowska. Thanks to his enthusiastic, creative and entrepreneurial personality he will surely be noticed on the international music business market. Despite his young age, Radek has already achieved recognition on international hip hip music scene. He is full of creative and innovative ideas as well as knowledgeable and willing to share the experience.
Radek Miszczak is a 25 year old promoter and organizer of music events from Wrocław. He is a true music activist: he set up the first Polish music blog about black music (dobry.numer), cooperated with MTV Poland for four years, wrote articles for magazines such as "Klan”, "Machina”, "Brain Damage”, "Steez”, "HIRO”, "Dos Dedos”, "Ślizg”, "Exklusiv”, "BBaRáK”. He was the editor in chief and co-author of two books: "Beaty, rymy, życie. Leksykon muzyki hip-hop” [“Beats, rhythms, life. Lexicon of hip-hop music”] (2005) and "Dusza, rytm, ciało. Leksykon muzyki r&b i soul” [“Soul, rhythm, body. Lexicon of r&b and soul”] (2009), the latter of which he also independently published. He graduated from the Warsaw School of Economics.
Currently Radek works as marketing & PR manager for Joytown, a promotion and event agency, which he established together with his partners in 2002. He is also the Polish promoter of the biggest hip-hop festival in Europe Hip Hop Kemp (Czech Republic) and spokesman of the festival of black music Wrocław 2012. In his spare time the Polish finalist enjoys travelling (especially for “music purposes”), collects vinyl CDs and djs niche parties.
The victory in the Polish stage of the IYME secured him not only material prizes (Casio Exilim camera with YouTube compatibility, a digital dictaphone and computer accessories by Vector Digital), but, more importantly, a trip to the UK in May this year for the international final of the competition. Together with other winners of the local stage from China, India, Kenya, Latin America, Lithuania, Malaysia and Nigeria, he took part in workshops and seminars with representatives of the British music industry in London and Manchester, and in the Great Escape festival in Brighton.
I am extremely happy that I was chosen as the winner of the Polish stage of the competition and that I will have a chance to establish new, interesting contacts during the visit to the UK – said Radek. Although I will probably be the youngest of all the finalists, I am sure that we’ll be able to find common ground thanks to our passion for music and for efficient business activity on the music market.
