IS IT POSSIBLE TO REGISTER FOR THE IELTS TEST AFTER THE DEADLINE?
Usually not, however it is worth trying to contact the examination centre as there might still be a possibility to register for the test in some cases (for example, if one of the previously registered candidates decides to cancel).
DO ALL PARTS OF THE EXAM TAKE PLACE ON THE SAME DAY?
The Listening, Reading, and Writing parts always take place on the same day in the order given. The speaking module may take place in a period of seven days before or after the written test.
WHERE DOES THE EXAM TAKE PLACE?
Information regarding the place and time of the test is sent to the candidates via e-mail at least 10 days before the test. Additionally, the information together with a map of localization is available online at http://www.britishcouncil.org/poland-ielts.htm
WHEN ARE THE RESULTS AVAILABLE?

Results (Test Report Form) are sent to the candidates and institutions listed on the Application Form on the 13th day following the test. Candidates may also collect TRFs in person or through an authorised person providing they have notified the examination centre of this fact no later than 7 days after the written exam and completed an authorisation form.

Candidates may also check their results on-line (http://ielts-results.britishcouncil.org) on the 13th day following the test. In order to do so, they need to provide their candidate number, the number of the ID given in the Application Form, date of birth and the date the IELTS exam was taken.

HOW LONG ARE THE RESULTS VALID?
The results are valid for 2 years.
WHEN SHOULD ONE LIST THE ADDRESSES OF INSTITUTIONS TO WHICH THE TEST REPORT FORM IS TO BE SENT?
The addresses of the institutions to which the Test Report Form is to be sent may be given before the test on the application form, or up to 2 years after the test. In such cases, these addresses should be listed on a special form available on-line at http://www.britishcouncil.org/poland-ielts.htm.
IS IT OBLIGATORY TO ATTEND A COURSE BEFORE SITTING THE IELTS EXAM?
It is not necessary to attend a preparation course. The candidate decides how to prepare for the test.
WHICH MODULE TO CHOOSE: ACADEMIC OR GENERAL TRAINING?

The candidate decides which module of the test he/she is going to sit taking into consideration the requirements given by the institution the candidate wishes to apply to.

  • Academic Module – usually taken when applying to college/university
  • General Training Module – usually taken for secondary school requirements, immigration, or when applying for a job.  
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE CANDIDATE FAILS TO FILL IN THE ANSWER SHEET?
The candidate will not have extra time to fill in the answer sheet if he/she fails to do so within the time limit. Answers which will not be transferred on the answer sheet will not be considered when marking the test.
The person supervising the exam reminds the candidates to transfer the answers onto the separate answer sheet.
SHOULD ANSWERS BE WRITTEN DOWN IN PENCIL OR PEN?
  • LISTENING – in pencil
  • READING – in pencil
  • WRITING – in pencil or pen
HOW MANY POINTS ARE NECCESSARY TO PASS THE EXAM?
The IELTS exam cannot be failed. The candidate will always get a certain amount of points as a result of the test. The institution to which the candidate is applying states how many points from the IELTS exam are considered sufficient.
