In Częstochowa, a place close to the hearts of many Poles, the British Council exam centre is run by a language school called the British Centre. It is located in a very distinguished part of the city, in a street that leads to the court building so that in almost every building there you can find a lawyer’s office. The centre’s seat is always vernal green. It attracts not only the sun that reflects in its glass facade but also youth of every age. And this is thanks to the Consonni ‘Romeo i Julia” café famous for its delicious confectionary. The café is situated on the ground floor and from there it is just a few steps to the British Centre – a treasury of knowledge on English language.

As a language school the British Centre specialises in teaching both adults and children. It offers preparatory courses for KET, PET, FCE, CAE, CPE, IELTS, TOLES and YLE examinations. Their students are very loyal. The most faithful ones have been with the school for 10 years now and very many others recommend the British Centre to their friends, siblings and children. |
As an exam centre they provide the opportunity to sit British exams, offer help and advice to future candidates, provide access to information materials on the format and organisation of all the exams, the validity and usefulness of certificates as well as British Council activities in Poland.
The Exams Coordinator, an incurable workaholic, is resistant to all therapies, especially those entertaining ones. The Administrator, an exceptionally intelligent blond loves eating but this passion has no effect on her perfect figure. The Częstochowa Centre can boast the presence of the examiner trainer for the south of Poland, Andy Dowds. Andy is a golf champion who has brought the local golf club out of its ranking oblivion. He is also an explorer, climbing peaks of imposing height.
As in all centres equally in Częstochowa various strange, funny and terrifying things happen. Once just before the writing part of an exam they had to wrestle with a team preparing the hall for a wedding party. Although the day before all the desks had been counted and checked, on the day of the test our colleagues noticed to their horror that a few tables were missing. The supervisor moved into the attack, destroyed elaborately arranged table cloths and regained the captured desks. Thanks to his valour the exam started without any delay whatsoever.
And now we invite you to check for yourselves whether all this is true: http://www.britishcentre.pl
