The 48-Hour Inclusive Design Challenge is a mentored design competition based on the yearly Inclusive Design Challenge. The competition is organised by the Royal College of Art Helen Hamlyn Centre in collaboration with the British Council Korea and the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009. The short listed teams work with the centre, disabled users and other experts to ensure that all aspects of inclusivity are considered as they respond to a design challenge. The Royal College of Art Helen Hamlyn Centre provides a focus for people-centred design and innovation by undertaking practical research and projects with industry to advance an approach to design that is socially inclusive.
The collaboration in Seoul this October is with the Seoul Design Olympiad 2009, which aims to improve the quality of life for visitors and residents, and boost Seoul’s economy through design.
The participating designers should have a minimum of 3 years professional design experience. The Seoul Design Olympiad will cover the European design participants’ accommodation costs. The deadline for online applications is 10 August.

The Fifth Curator competition is a unique new opportunity for an aspiring curator to select an exhibition of works from the British Council Collection. We are looking for someone who is based permanently outside the UK, who believes they have the passion and knowledge to be a leading curator.
The winning curator will be given unlimited access to the Collection, which includes over 8500 key works of British art and the resulting exhibition will be shown at the prestigious Whitechapel in the vibrant East end of London in April 2010.
