ARTISTIC POLICY
Cheek by Jowl is a theatre company internationally renowned for fresh and vivid productions of classic texts. Led by co-artistic directors Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, the company is currently producing work in English, French, and Russian, and has performed in 330 cities in over 40 countries spanning six continents.

CURRENT PRODUCTIONS
Andromaque – In French.
The Trojan War ended in a massacre of horrific proportions. Now the children of Troy’s Greek conquerors face the impossible task of living up to their immortalised parents. In a radical new production by Cheek by Jowl, Racine’s Andromaque exposes our capacity for self deception with lacerating clarity.

FUTURE PRODUCTIONS
In 2010 Cheek by Jowl will tour Macbeth, a new piece of English language work. A vivid and unsettling staging of this bloody tragedy of the imagination.
In 2011 Cheek by Jowl will tour a new piece of Russian work. In the meantime, their productions of Boris Godunov, Twelfth Night and Three Sisters with the Chekhov International Theatre Company continue.

WRAP-AROUND
Cheek by Jowl give pre-show talks (including book signings of Declan Donnellan’s The Actor and The Target), workshops and masterclasses (the latter tend to be held at drama schools).
The company has a particular interest in working with emerging theatre professionals (actors, directors and designers). In September 2008, Cheek by Jowl held its second summer school for young directors and designers bringing together a group of talented fledgling artists in one forum, to work with Declan Donnellan, Nick Ormerod and the Cheek by Jowl team on placing the actor and the ensemble at the heart of their work. A third Summer School is planned for 2009.
