Registration Procedures

Obtain an application form

     a. by downloading here.

     b. from the British Council office at    
        10th Floor Taipan Place
        F. Ortigas Jr. Road (formerly Emerald Avenue)
        Ortigas Centre, Pasig City
        Registration Hours:
             Monday to Saturday
             9:00 am - 4:00 pm

     c. from our registration agents.

Fill in the application form.

     a. Do not forget to sign the application form.

     b. Keep pages i to iv of the application form and read the         Notice to IELTS Candidates very carefully

NOTE: We only offer the pen and paper mode as of this time.

Submit the application form together with the following requirements:

     a. valid national ID, which can be any of the following:
         -passport
         -PRC ID (for professionals)
         -SSS ID or GSIS ID
         -LTO Driver's License
          *your ID should still be valid on your exam day

     b. photocopy of ID (to be attached to application form)

     c. 2 passport size coloured photos

     d. test fee (Php 8,640.00)

Currently, British Council Philippines accepts the following forms of payment:

     a. cash

     b. manager’s or cashier’s cheque or bank draft (payable to         the British Council)

All payments should be in Pesos only.  Credit card payments and checks from foreign banks are not accepted at this time.  Candidates based outside the Philippines who intend to take the test with us may have a representative process payment for them.

How to submit your application form

Submit application form and requirements direct to our office or to one of our registration agents. Registration at our office is from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Saturday.

Send through WWWExpress/DHL for free! Go to any WWWExpress/DHL outlet near you and quote 642210981 (this is the WWWExpress/DHL account of British Council). WWWExpress/DHL will deliver your application to our office free of charge. Click here for WWWExpress/DHL drop-off centres near your area.

If you are going to submit applications through courier, you do not need to send your original IDs.  Only the photocopy of your ID should be sent to our office together with the application form and manager's cheque (payable to British Council) for the amount.

HOW WILL I KNOW THE VENUE AND TIME OF THE TEST?

During registration at the British Council office, you will be advised of the venue, if it is known. A reminder letter together with an official receipt will be given thus serving as the confirmation for the exam.  However, if the venue is not advised:

The speaking tests may be scheduled within five days before or after your scheduled written test. In case your speaking test is scheduled before the written test, you will be informed through a phone call. Otherwise, your schedule and venue for the speaking test will be given after the written tests.

The IELTS exam starts at exactly 9:00am. You should arrive at the test venue at 8:00am to complete pre-test requirements and to check your candidate number and seat assignment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

Candidates should register for the test at least 2 weeks before the test date. Some tests fill up before this time, so you are advised to register earlier.

TEST DATE TRANSFER / REFUND POLICY

Application for Refund (Cancelled Registration)

Candidates who seek to cancel their registration within the five-week period prior to the test date will only receive a refund if they can satisfy to the Administrator that their ability to sit the test has been affected by illness or serious cause. Serious causes include:

Serious illness – e.g hospital admission or serious injury (Does not include minor illness such as a mild cold)

Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member (As per Chap.1 Art. 150 of the Family Code, family relations include those of: (1) Between husband and wife; (2) Between parents and children and (3) Among brothers and sisters, whether full or half blood)

Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident

Military service

Application Process for Refunds / Test Date Transfer

Candidates who failed to attend their scheduled test may file for a refund or test date transfer. A request must be lodged by the candidate no later than five working days after the test date. Candidates must complete a Request for Refund / Test Date Transfer Form and attach the appropriate documentation and/or evidence. Acceptable documents may include a medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death certificate, or a police report. Statutory declarations and certificates signed by family members are not acceptable.

The Administrator will advise the candidate within one week of lodging the application whether or not their request has been approved.

Refunds – If the candidate’s application is approved, the centre will refund the test fee to the candidate. However, the centre may choose to deduct an administrative fee (no more than 25% of the test fee).The original Official Receipt needs to be submitted in order to process the refund.

Transfers – If the candidate’s application is approved, candidates must select a test date within the next 3-month period and this will be approved by the Administrator depending on availability for the selected test date.  There may be limited availability for test dates in the first five-week period.  The candidate may be required to pay a transfer fee of Php 1,000.00. Candidates who wish to transfer to a test date more than 3 months away should apply for a refund and then re-apply.
