Getting the right people for the job is the biggest challenge facing the industry today. Our unique role profiling and recruitment test exercise, benchmarked to the Common European Framework, provides your company with best fit deployment solutions.
Our voice test is detailed enough to form a realistic profile of a candidate’s current oral competence – which represents an huge ‘value add’ for IT-BPO recruitment decisions, as well as functioning as a diagnostic tool to inform the planning of further training measures.
The test measures five parameters of global communication:
Accuracy |
Range |
fluency |
Interaction |
Pronounciation |
The outputs of this testing system are defined in terms of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF).
Benefits of CEF:
Objective, reliable, valid in its assessment of ‘global communication’ - and 100% transparent to all |
Useable - making it comprehensible to non linguists in the IT-BPO context |
Sustainable: trainable to your teams in order for then to reliably assess language using CEF |
Flexible - linked to other examinations such as IELTS and can also be used to assess other languages |
Informative – allows assessors to plan training curricula based on real ‘training gaps’ |
Learner focused – can be linked to performance management, as published ELT materials are pegged to CEF |
It’s end to end – recruitment , training and operations can align their understanding of language by using CEF |
It’s a completely free tool |
We have a trained team of assessors who can conduct the language assessments at your workplace, or the test can be administered telephonically from our offices in Manila.
We can also train your own assessment team to administer the test, and conduct regular standardisation sessions to ensure ongoing quality.
British Council consultancy can also assess the linguistic complexity of your particular business process, in terms of the requisite language skills (expressed in terms of the CEF). This can be fed into setting the bar for recruitment and also advising on training requirements.

"I don’t think that recruitment can turn out the talent, who are qualified, in terms of English language fluency and proficiency…without the support of British Council assessment expertise" Zeus Payos Divina (Director, Recruitment Operations – Convergys Philippines 2011 |
"The British Council training has changed our approach towards the way we assess candidates. Initially we focused only on the negative points of the candidate in terms of language but the CEF training has helped me focus on the positive as well as the negative points of the candidate and thus getting us the right fit for our organisation. The training session was very interactive. Thank you!" Candice Miranda, Master Assessor, Barclays Mumbai. |
