STARBUCKS CRITERIA
Shortlisted proposals all qualify for the Starbucks™ Shared Planet™ Award (also worth Php 100,000) which will be judged based on the following criteria:

1. Community Service/Involvement (25%)

  • inspiring positive change and improving lives
  • involvement of community members
  • giving back to the community being served

2. Environmental Stewardship (20%)

  • developing means to minimise environmental footprint
  • measures to manage waste, protect water quality, conserve water and energy, preserve biodiversity and reduce agrochemical use
  • increasing recycling efforts

3. Ethical Sourcing (20%)

  • safe, fair and humane working conditions for workers
  • support provided to local community to help sustain and strengthen supply of product/service
  • transparency and accountability in the management of finances and processes

4. Diversity (20%)

  • upholding a culture where diversity is valued and respected e.g.
  • increasing relationships with minority groups
  • culturally relevant practices
  • recognising and responding to unique preferences and needs

5. Wellness (15%)

  • dedication to wellness, supporting policies and efforts to improve the health of communities
  • offering products/services that promote health

SELECTION CRITERIA

For the three (3) elimination rounds – long listing, short listing, and final presentations – the following criteria will be used by judges at each round to eliminate contestants until five (5) winners are awarded Php 100,000 each.

1. Overall Concept (20%)

originality
feasibility (can be done)
implementation plan and timetable
success measures
likelihood of achieving demonstrable results

2. Community Impact (20%)

reach, depth and quality of impact (to what degree does the offered solution help solve the identified problem?)
impact measures
relevance to the community being served

3. Sustainability (15%)

potential for project partnerships and to receive additional funding
feasibility of the venture's financial model and goals
potential for growth or replication (scalability)

4. Risk Assessment and Contingency Plans (15%)

identification of risk factors associated with the venture
assessment of the external environment
competitive analysis, SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis

5. Market (10%)

evidence of demand in the marketplace
assessment of market size and growth opportunity
demonstrated knowledge of target market

4. Management Team (5%)

leadership potential – ability to achieve results and promote change through working with people
strength of the project team, including evidence of previous training or experience in management, leadership, sales and marketing, technology and/or other industry-specific skills
previous work experience, where appropriate
