Important Notice to IELTS Candidates

In line with advice from government immigration agencies, a change to the regulations relating to IELTS candidate photographs will be implemented from 1 January 2010.

Candidates registering after 31 December 2009 must not wear glasses in the photographs they submit for IELTS registration.

Step 1

Information

• Download & read the IELTS registration form and information sheet and notes on the application form.
• Read through the IELTS handbook on the IELTS website.
• Check IELTS test dates and place availability from the IELTS calendar or your nearest the British Council Information Centre.
• In case you wish to query your result - IELTS Enquiry Results form.
• British Council online IELTS results service.
• Change to the General Training Reading Paper.

Step 2

Registration

• Download & complete the IELTS registration form and information sheet.
• Check IELTS test dates and place availability from the IELTS calendar or your nearest the British Council Information Centre.

Step 3

Payment

• Deposit the IELTS fee in the British Council bank account as stated in the IELTS information sheet.

Step 4

• Send your IELTS application to the appropriate British Council office by courier or registered mail along with two recent coloured photos with plain background (37mm x 37mm), a stamped bank deposit slip/bank draft for Rs 9,300 (payable to the appropriate British Council office, a photocopy of your national identity card or passport). Candidates those wish to register for January 2010 test dates and onwards will have to pay Rs. 10,000/-.

Please note that you must bring the same original ID (passport or national identity card) that you mention and attach on your IELTS application form with you on the day of the test.
