We regret the inconvenience caused to O and A Level students from Quetta who have been asked to take their exams at other centers on account of security issues. This affects 250 O and A Level school candidates from 9 schools and 60 private candidates.
Our foremost priority is our duty of care to the well being and safety of students and our staff who conduct the examinations. We remain committed to working in Quetta , not just in exams but in a range of other activities. We have always endeavoured to run exams as close as possible to candidates' locations whenever we can and in this context have delivered exams in Quetta as recently as last May/June. However, in the present circumstances we have taken this decision not to conduct exams in Quetta this May/June. This is not a permanent measure but will be up for review for future sessions. It has been our practice in the recent past as well to shift examination centers to prioritize student safety when there were concerns that it could not be guaranteed.
We fully understand this is not an ideal scenario and one which will involve inconvenience to both parents and students.
However realising that the future of candidates is at stake we have tried for the next best option which is to go ahead with the exams in Karachi . Again, understanding the administrative & financial implications of this we have taken two specific measures:
- We will refund the British Council element of the exam fee and also commit to pay for their Cambridge exam fees to ease the financial burden to allow parents to secure appropriate accommodation for their children Karachi
- We are currently researching and negotiating affordable and secure accommodation options that we can present to parents
We remain driven primarily by our commitment to student welfare and security which is why we are committing our financial resources to alleviate some of the impact this decision has on them.
