International Association of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL)
The International Association of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL) is an organisation that aims to link, develop and support English Language Teaching professionals around the world. It is one of the world's two largest international English language teachers' associations with many members in the UK, but many more in countries where English is not the first language.
English Language Teaching Contacts Scheme (ELTeCS)

The English Language Teaching Contacts Scheme (ELTeCS) promotes the sustainable development of English Language Teaching to the mutual benefit of participating countries in pursuance of the British Council's long-term objectives to extend the use of English as the language of international communication and trade, and as an accelerator of development, to assist the professional development of British and international ELT.

ELTeCS through its networks

  • disseminates best ELT practice between participating regions, countries and individuals
  • acts as a catalyst for innovation and continuing project development in ELT
  • facilitates developmental contact between institutions, projects and ELT professionals
  • extends access to the expertise and materials developed within the ELTeCS network since 1990
  • supports activity likely to be of regional benefit
  • develops skills across the network
  • enables suppliers of ELT goods and services to inform the network of opportunities and developments.
