The days when knowledge was restricted to books and classrooms are a thing of the past. The British Council has joined hands with Servis Sales Corporation with an aim to make learning fun for today’s kids through interactive tools, materials, programmes, and collaborations.
As part of the Servis ‘Fun and Learn’ initiative every kid will get a British Council’s LearnEnglish Kids pack free with every purchase of Servis Skooz shoes. In addition to that kids will also get a chance to win many other exciting prizes through a lucky draw.
The partnership brings together the needs of children first and foremost, which is making learning an enjoyable activity that can be accessed even outside the classroom. It aims to reach at the heart of one of the main obstacles to student achievement, which is the lack of comprehension skills in English. Over the period of time, Servis plans to expand it to cover subjects like Maths.
LearnEnglish Kids is a British Council global website with the purpose of improving English language skills of children with fun activities like stories, songs, games, and other interactive tools. LearnEnglish Kids is used by children around the world who are learning English as a second or foreign language. It has free resources for children to use at school, online or at home, either independently or with friends and family members.
Servis Sales Corporation has long been involved in Corporate Social Responsibility endeavours and sees business success and social welfare as interlinked. Through this initiative it provides access through its widespread store network, in some remote regions as well, to learners across the country.
Both Servis Sales Corporation and the British Council hope that this major initiative will help in improving school outcomes for all types of institutions, whether government or private. Pakistan’s most strategic resource for the future is its young population, and businesses need to do their part in developing them, for the country and their own bottom line.
The partnership was launched in Lahore on 19 July 2012 in a fun filled way. School children and teachers took active part in the launch besides government representatives, educationists and media.
The British Council gave presentation on the fun activities covered in the LearnEnglish Kids pack, which was received with much excitement particularly by the students and teachers.
“The songs, stories and games are so colourful and exciting that I can’t wait to go back home and explore all the activities along with my siblings and friends”, said Shaheryar Zaidi, a class 8 student from a school in Lahore.
