How do we engage with the participants?

Our emphasis is on direct engagement with Connecting Classrooms participants and ensuring the best possible outcomes for learners. This is being done through three core activity areas, delivered in the UK and every participating country:

Collaborative curriculum projects:

   They are central to every school partnership and embedded in the schools’ curricula. These projects instil a global dimension in young people’s learning, giving learners access to other cultures and languages and direct experience of working with people in other countries. Projects involve a range of subject disciplines and capitalise on other areas such as English language teaching, arts and climate change.

Leadership development for internationalising education:

This component ensures that school leaders and teachers have:

• The professional capacity required to lead an institution in an international environment
• To embed the global dimension in the curriculum and ethos of the school
• To benchmark their practice against high standards around the world.

International School Award:

This is an international accreditation that recognises schools’ commitment to developing global citizens by embedding the global dimension in their curriculum and ethos.

This is the first time the award has been offered worldwide. In England the award is already well-established and is recognised and supported by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) as a kite mark of excellence.

Through dialogue with ministries and curriculum authorities in other regions we ensure that the International School Award is recognised as a mark of excellence throughout the world. Read more...
