This is where we see theory put into effective practice: young people addressing their unique local priorities through Social Action Projects to help their communities. More than 300 Social Action Projects have been initiated in the past two years. For 2011-12 we are especially focusing on projects on advocacy for education and promotion of peace.
22,000 young people have acquired the skills and knowledge of working in a community during the Active Citizens workshops during 2009-2011. During 2010-2011 we registered more than 300 social action projects across Pakistan. To read more about these youth led social action projects visit our Social Action Projects’ Blog
Social Action projects (SAPs) Awards
Active Citizens are spread across Pakistan and to appreciate their work a Social Action Project road show was undertaken. In August 2011 a 6 week Social Action Project road show came to an end after visiting 11 cities, 8 communities, 125 projects and over 2000 young people. Two National Social Action Projects awards have been held so far.
ILMPOSSIBLE
The idea for ILMPOSSIBLE took root in the hearts and minds of Young Pakistanis trained by the British Council’s Active Citizens Programme. Through ILMPOSSIBLE they aim to bring together young people from all over Pakistan, from all walks of life, and from very diverse backgrounds on a single platform.
ILMPOSSIBLE is a movement that aims to mobilise as many young people in Pakistan to take on the task of educating all Pakistanis about:
- Article 25 A and its importance
- To generate an open debate on concerns related to the education system in Pakistan
- To inform all citizens on the role they can play to make ‘Education for All’ a reality in our lifetime.
