Young people are encouraged to share their ideas and beliefs with Pakistani and British legislators and influencers, giving them voice with those who can direct youth policy and development. To provide Active Citizens an opportunity to interact with policy makers at all levels from the community up to provincial and National levels. The purpose of this interaction is to:
- Stimulate debate about active citizenship, youth issues and policies that affect young people.
- Set up forums that will give young people an opportunity to voice their opinions and to highlight issues relevant to their participation in the socio-political and economic matters of the state and help develop solutions.
- Allow all Active Citizens to make informed choices through exposure to the political system. To put their citizenship rights and obligations into practice.
We launched Pakistan: The Next Generation report, a thought-provoking account of Pakistan's large, yet disaffected, young generation in November 2009. This resulted in extensive press coverage internationally and locally, discussing the issues highlighted in t.
We have involved over 65 high profile policy makers with the Active Citizens programme through collaborations with Parliamentarians, the Planning Commission of the Government of Pakistan, provincial governments, corporate partners and social activists.

A series of televised policy dialogues were also organised in partnership with the Young Parliamentarians Forum of the National Assembly of Pakistan. Issues were candidly debated and discussed by both parliamentarians and participants and this dialogue. Corruption, economic empowerment for the youth and social enterprise were the focus of separate sessions that were broadcasted.
Our Partner: The Young Parliamentarians Forum
The Young Parliamentarians Forum provides a platform for Parliamentarian's 40 years of age or younger at the time of their election, to engage with one another, to enrich their understanding and contribution towards the working of Parliament, as well as a platform for young Members of Parliament to engage with Pakistan's Youth and translate their needs into action through Parliament.
