WHO WE ARE
An organisation that creates opportunity worldwide

The British Council connects people worldwide with learning opportunities and creative ideas from the UK and builds lasting relationships between the UK and other countries.

We are the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations and are represented in 110 countries worldwide. We are a major channel for the UK's public diplomacy in Pakistan - putting Pakistani people in touch with people in the UK. We work for the benefit of the individual and for the mutual benefit of Britain and Pakistan.

We have been working in Pakistan since 1948, starting from a small office in Karachi. We now have offices in 5 cities, offer services in 6 cities and employ more than 200 staff members throughout the Pakistan.

In the UK the British Council is registered as a charity (not-for-profit-organisation) and operates as an executive non-departmental public body. Our patron is Her Majesty The Queen and our Vice-Patron is His Royal Highness, The Prince of Wales.

The United Kingdom’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities.
