Do you want to study for an undergraduate degree in the UK? You will need to use UCAS (Universities and Colleges Admissions Service) to apply for your degree course.
UCAS is the central body that handles most applications to undergraduate courses throughout Britain.
To apply through UCAS you have to fill in an online UCAS application form. This form enables you to apply for a maximum of 6 courses / institutions in Britain (4 courses if applying for medicine or vetenary studies).
UCAS does not make any decisions on applications or provide applicants with course advice; these matters are dealt with by the admissions staff at the individual institutions that receive a copy of your UCAS form.
The general UCAS deadline for university entry is the 15th January 2006. Exceptions to this rule are applications to Cambridge, Oxford and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine courses, when your application should reach UCAS by the 15th October 2005. For Art and Design Route B courses the UCAS application deadline is the 24 March 2005.
If you are an international (overseas) student applying from outside the EU (Norwegian citizens) you can apply through UCAS at any time up until 30 June of the year of your proposed studies. It is however advisable to apply as early as possible as popular courses may not have vacancies at later dates. Some institutions will not consider applicants after the offical UCAS deadline of 15th January.
You can find the online UCAS application form at www.ucas.com. Please note that the UCAS Directory is also available on this website
An example of how a Norwegian student might fill out the form can be found in this powerpoint presentation.
