The Globalisation Tapes

8th March, Vika Kino, FILMPORT, 8.45pm

The Globalisation Tapes portrays the situation of the plantation workers in Sumatra, Indonesia, seen in relation to international organisations like the World bank and the WTO. After the screening, a debate will take place with representatives from PRIO (Peace Research Institute in Oslo), Ethical Trade, University of Oslo and Michael Uwemedino from Vision Machine in London, producer of The Globalisation Tapes. A collaboration with the Critical Room, Films from the South and Filmport.

ART IN NORDLAND – ARTISTIC INTERRUPTIONS

2004 - 2006
BC Norway has initiated a collaboration with Art in Nordland that will include 3 UK projects stretching from 2004 – 2006. These include Nurse with Wound Shipwreck radio at the Lofoten International Art Festival, curated by Anne Hilde Neset and Rob Young. The proposal includes plans to work collaboratively on communicating main issues coming out of this type of project in local, national and international art communities. Art in Nordland is a follow-up to the highly successful Skulptur i Nordland, based on similar models of introducing high quality contemporary art to local communities.
2005: Simon Starling Project to be developed for 2005 by Scottish artist Simon Starling. For more information check the Art in Nordland website.

Tromsø International Film Festival

18th-23rd January 05
British Council Norway is happy to announce that internationally acclaimed film director Mike Leigh will visit Tromsø International Film Festival and introduce his latest film Vera Drake Saturday 22nd January. For more information visit the Tromsø Film Festival website.
