The British Council's global campaign highlighting climate change
 The British Council invites top Climate Campaigner to speak at Waterfront
Mark Lynas, author of 'Six Degrees - our Future on a Hotter Planet' will give a public lecture on Monday 8 October at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast.  Lynas, among the top ten in The Independent's Global Green List, asserts that estimates of an ice-free Arctic by 2080 are 'too convervative ...'.  More .....

The British Council will convene a breakfast discussion at the Northern Ireland Executive office in Brussels on 21 September which will focus on contemporary UK-Irish relations and on what effects Europe and the USA have on this complicated relationship.   Panelists will include Maurice Hayes, Chair of Forum on Europe, David O'Sullivan, Director General for Trade at the European Commission and Kevin Cullen, journalist with the Boston Globe and winner of a citation of excellence from the Overseas Press club of America for interpretive reporting on Northern Ireland.  The event will be chaired by Brian Hanna, former Chief Executive of Belfast City Council, now Chair of British Council Northern Ireland's Advisory Committee.  More ...
 Parlez-vous Rugby?
Primary school pupils from Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and France will link language learning with cultural relations in Paris on 5 October.  The British Council's Parlez-Vous Rugby? programme has organised a special event during the Rugby World Cup, aiming to encourage language skills and broaden horizons through shared enthusiasm for sport.    More .....
Belfast, Dublin, Madrid and seven other European cities embark on a 3 year project which studies how new migrants can contribute to growth and economy whilst successfully integrating into the fabric of a city.  Belfast is striving to prove that the migrant experience can be beneficial for all.  More ......
The Mock Council of the European Union, a flagship event organised by The British Council Northern Ireland, will take place on 17 October 2007 in the Long Gallery at Parliament Buildings with 28 schools from all over Northern Ireland taking part.  Guest speaker will be Reijo Kemppinen, Head of European Commission in the UK.  Also attending will be pupils from Slovenia whose televisual debating skills won them a week in the UK.    More ...

Supported by British Council Northern Ireland, Arts Council NI and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure, leading local artist Willie Doherty represented Northern Ireland at this year's Venice Biennale, with a specially commissioned piece called 'Ghost Story'. The show was critically acclaimed and drew over 40,000 visitors.  Now you have a chance to see 'Ghost Story' when it arrives at the Golden Thread Gallery in Belfast in January 08.  More ...
