BEI Application Procedure

Applications for the 2010-2011 academic year follow this timetable:  

•September 2009 – Application form available for download (application is now closed)

•October 2009 - British Council staff visit Universities and Further Education Colleges around Northern Ireland and deliver recruitment presentations.

•November 2009 –  Last chance to complete the on-line application form.  The closing date for applications is midday on 13th November 2009. Late applications will not be accepted.

•December 2009 - Selection interviews take place in Belfast.  Interviews are carried out by staff of the British Council and the Northern Ireland Universities and Colleges of Further and Higher Education.

•January 2010 – Offers are made to successful applicants.

•March 2010 - Successful applicants attend a matching meeting with an American Church Representative and member of British Council staff.

•June 2010 – Successful participants attend a two day induction Briefing, attended by past participants of the BEI programme.

•July 2010 – Successful participants attend a Pre-Departure Briefing.

•August 2010 - Successful participants leave NI and begin their academic year in the US.

•September 2011 – Returning participants enrol for final year studies at NI University/College.
