 This year 28 schools from across Northern Ireland and Ireland represented the countries and commission of the EU. The event, now in its fifth year, was again organised by the British Council in partnership with the European Commission Office in Northern Ireland.
The discussion topics chosen this year focused upon three areas;
Climate Change Financial Crisis Energy Security in Europe
Chaired by Mike Smyth, one of two NI representatives on the European Economic and Social Committee, said
"Events like this help to bring the European institutions alive by giving students an opportunity to debate and lobby for a day on topics of concern to them and the wider EU such as climate change and the economy. It is crucial that we fully engage in the EU to ensure that our voice is heard and today helped to raise awareness of the importance of the EU to our everyday lives and also the importance of striving for concensus in an ever increasing Union."
