CONNECTING NORTHERN IRELAND AND THE WORLD THROUGH CULTURAL RELATIONS
The future for the UK in this crowded, dangerous, beautiful world depends on people of all cultures living and working together on foundations of education, mutual understanding, respect and trust.
The British Council in Northern Ireland (NI) works with partners to build engagement and trust through the exchange of knowledge and ideas between people worldwide. We connect NI and the world by harnessing the power of the arts, education, science and governance to build relationships of mutual benefit and to help address global issues.
Our work aims to:
• create opportunities for people to participate in the knowledge economy • promote intercultural dialogue between Northern Ireland and the world • tackle the threat to us all that is presented by climate change • achieve recognition for Northern Ireland as confident and creative.
We operate in 238 cities in over 100 countries and territories, including five cities in the UK. The Northern Ireland Directorate has grown significantly to embrace the challenges of building trust and engagement for Northern Ireland in the world.
