Go Green, Save Life

Our actions today, may save our lives tomorrow.

The Green Africa Project is an initiative of the British Council Nigeria to contribute to the reduction and mitigation of environmental problem in our world today and create a more sustainable environment for our future.

The increasing population, urbanisation, industrialisation and our unsustainable lifestyles in general is now creating more problems for our environment. Emerging statistics already shows that there is a strong indication of Climate change that comes as a result of many of the different kinds of pollution through our ways of living.
The consequences of these are being felt now and could be worse in the future and this has called for a dramatic action by international development community, which British council is responding to.

To achieve this, we choose to work through three approaches;

  1. Education awareness programmes on environmental sustainability:
    We aim to enlighten ourselves on the environmental problem and to look at different practical way that we could help in reducing the problem in our immediate society and the nation as a whole, this we hope to achieve through Campaign, Group discussions, Debates, and Workshops.

  2. Partnering with different organisations to deliver a practical approach on how we can combat the emerging environmental problem:
    We will collaborate with several international and local organisations where necessary on environmental sustainability issues in the country, most particularly in capacity building, and Knowledge transfer.

  3. Advocacy with policy makers on environmental issues in Nigeria:
    We hope to be at the forefront in advocacy by seeking to influence positive decisions on the issue of environmental sustainability in Nigeria.

We work through four Projects with different activities for all and they include:

  1. Green Issues
  2. Green Nigeria and Schools
  3. Re-designing Utopia
  4. African Knowledge Transfer Partnership
