Speaker Details

Dr Pikay Richardson, BSc (Eng), MSc, PhD (Management).

Dr Pikay Richardson is currently Visiting Professor/scholar of Business Management in the Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business, University of Botswana.  He is a seasoned management teacher and educator.
After degrees in Electrical Engineering and Management, and a PhD in 1989 from the University of Manchester, Dr Richardson joined the faculty at Manchester Business School, the post-graduate Faculty of Business Administration of the University of Manchester, where he taught and supervised MBA and PhD students up to 2000.  In 2000, he was appointed Research Professor and Academic Director for Executive Programmes at the School of Management, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, USA.

In the Executive Centre of Manchester Business School, Dr Richardson has been very active in improving the competences of in-service managers. For over 15 years, he has designed and run a large number of short open-access and client-specific executive development programmes for delegates from many countries, as well as for many UK and overseas companies.  His areas of expertise include the Economic Environment of Business, Strategic Management, Customer Care/Service, Branding, Corporate Restructuring and Turnaround, Corporate Governance, Corporate Social Responsibility, Management and Union Relations, and Strategic Leadership

Dr Richardson is well-travelled and teaches internationally.  Apart from the UK where he is based, he presents regularly in China, India, Germany, France, Dubai, Ghana, South Africa and latterly Botswana, where he is Director of Executive Development at Faculty of Business, University of Botswana.

Dr Richardson’s links with West Africa goes back to his routes.  Although he holds a British citizenship, Dr Richardson is a Ghanaian by birth.  For five years 1981-1985, he was lecturer in Electrical Engineering at the Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, Ogun State.  In 2001, he set up the Nigerian Institute of Management’s One-week Top Leadership Development Programme, which is run many times a year in the Manchester Business School, Manchester, UK.  He is married with four children, all based in the United Kingdom.

MANAGEMENT EXPRESS NEWSLETTER is free and made available to centre members; it provides quarterly in-depth articles about current topics in the management field.

MANAGEMENT EXPRESS FAST TRACK SERIES is a self-access continuous professional development course series aimed at early to mid career professionals, young managers or recent graduates intending to pursue a career in management, resulting in a British Council professional development certificate for candidates who score above the pass mark in the series’ knowledge check. There are seven courses, which are open to British Council centre members: Leading your team, Starting your own business, Business plans that produce results, Effective influencing and negotiating, Coaching and mentoring, Performance management, Get the job you want.

MANAGEMENT EXPRESS ONLINE COMMUNITY is a virtual means of continuing discussions in between physical Management Express Forum meetings.
