Mr Martin McEwan
Martin McEwan has a distinguished marketing background in industry, charitable, political and public sectors at strategic level, including global marketing strategy, research, segmentation, comprehensive branding and other marketing communications.
A pioneer in international segmentation and targeting, Martin’s experience includes being the first Director of Marketing for the British Council (the UK’s international cultural and educational organisation around the world), the UK Labour Party where he was Head of Marketing and Income Generation, the RNIB where he was Head of Donor Development as well as other roles in local authorities and senior marketing roles in industry. Martin’s qualifications include an MBA and the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing and he is an associate member of the Institute of Management Consulting.
Martin sits on the Advisory Board of the Youth Research Forum, a Think Tank for public, corporate and voluntary sectors that share a common need to effectively address issues facing young people today. He also sits on the Board and Steering Group of ShareLiverpoolFC, which is aiming to secure fan ownership of Liverpool Football Club, advising on marketing and communications.
Martin is now Director of an international marketing consultancy, McEwan Hackett International Marketing

is a self-access continuous professional development course series aimed at early to mid career professionals, young managers or recent graduates intending to pursue a career in management, resulting in a British Council professional development certificate for candidates who score above the pass mark in the series’ knowledge check. There are seven courses, which are open to British Council centre members: Leading your team, Starting your own business, Business plans that produce results, Effective influencing and negotiating, Coaching and mentoring, Performance management, Get the job you want.
