Remote Access System
This is an access management system that allows you to access our range of online resources from our offices, your homes/office and cyber cafes. It gives access to multiple resources simply by using a single password sign-on.

Why Athens?

With Athens, you will have access to thousands of online journals anywhere you are with just a mouse click. This gives the feeling of having the best mobile reference libraries in the world at your fingertips.

What technical experience do I need?

You do not need any technical background to have an Athens personal account, but you need to be able to access the web and to be familiar with accessing databases on the web.

What kind of hardware do I need to use Athens?

It does not matter which hardware platform you use to access Athens. All you need is a web browser/windows application.

How do I enjoy this service?

All you need to do is become an individual member of the British Council Information Centre, and you will have access to the service at no extra cost.

What’s in the  individual membership for me?

A valid membership, and a Computer with Internet access forms an information gateway that would empower access to millions of full-text articles in their thousands. Ranging from periodicals, journals and newspapers in the areas of business, medicine, literature, science and technology, religion, education, law, psychology, sociology, English language and many more.

You would also benefit from our lending services which allows you to borrow one management book, two Videos (VHS)/DVD’s/Music CD’s/, four non-management, and one journal all at the same time.This however will depend on the Centre policy at the time of operation.

How do I join?

Obtain a membership form from any of our Centres in Lagos, Kano, Port Harcourt, and Abuja.

Return the completed forms with the appropriate fees, and your  registration would be finalised in minutes.
