Mr. Mustafa Akyol

Author and political commentator

Mustafa Akyol is an author and political commentator from Turkey. He is a graduate of the Istanbul Nisantasi British High School and the International Relations Department of the Bosphorus University. He completed his master’s degree in late Ottoman history at the History Department of the same university.

He is currently a columnist for Hurriyet Daily News, Turkey's foremost English-language daily. He also writes a regular column for the Turkish national daily, Star. His articles have also appeared in other publications such as Foreign Affairs, Newsweek, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, or International Herald Tribune.

His latest book, Islam without Extremes: A Muslim Case for Liberty, was published by W.W. Norton in July 2011.
