Dr. Marta Bolognani

Marta Bolognani is a researcher at the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies (SPAIS) at Bristol University. She has a background in social anthropology and her research focuses on Muslims in the contemporary world, although her expertise is mainly in the field of Pakistani Diaspora. Her most recent work is Pakistan and its Diaspora: Multidisciplinary Approaches (Palgrave 2011), co-edited with Steve Lyon.
Marta completed her Ph.D. at Leeds University with a thesis that was later transformed in a monograph on criminological discourse among British Muslims in 2009. She is now editing a volume on Pakistan and its diaspora.
Marta was Head of Sociology, Criminology and Popular Culture at the University of Wales Institute in Cardiff (UWIC) between 2008 and 2009, after returning from Pakistan where she had taught anthropology and sociology at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) between 2006 and 2008.
Marta serves on the Executive Committee of the Muslims in Britain Research Network and is part of the Pakistan Studies Group.
