Legal Issues
If you need legal advice you can contact the Citizens Advice service. This helps people resolve their legal, money and other problems by providing free, independent and confidential advice. It is the largest advice-giving network in the UK, regularly providing advice from 3,300 locations. To find out more visit the website or access the online advice guide which has information about a range of topics that might affect you, including issues around tax, civil rights and immigration. This guide also has sections explaining the legal system in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
In England and Wales you can also get advice from the Community Legal Advice service , and check whether you are entitled to Legal Aid, which helps towards the cost of legal advice for people who can’t afford it.
If you are facing a specific legal problem linked to the fact that you have moved from another EU country, you may be able to get advice on your rights as an EU citizen from the Citizen’s Signpost Service .
