Executive Board
Our Executive Board is responsible for the overall strategy, direction and management of the organisation. Our Executive Board comprises the Chief Executive Martin Davidson and five Executive Directors.
Mark Robson - Director Operations
Mark has both commercial and marketing experience that has been developed in a number of international companies including Georgia-Pacific and at Carapelli Firenze.
Cathy Stephens OBE - Director Innovation
Cathy joined the British Council in 1978 and was Geographical Director, Africa and Asia from 2003. After university she worked for the American Peace Corps and UNESCO, before joining the British Council.
Bidesh Sarkar - Director Resources
Bidesh Sarkar has worked in both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. He began his career at Baker Tilly, moving on to Andersen before taking on the role of Strategic Analyst at Kimberley-Clark Corporation.
John Worne - Director Strategy and External Relations
John Worne has held senior positions in both the public and private sectors, most recently at the Cabinet Office and Department of Health. Prior to that he worked in the international telecommunications industry.
Maureen Laurie - Director Global Human Resources
Maureen has extensive international Human Resources Management experience, gained in private and public organisations. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
