Partnership works for us

In this era of globalisation, countries, organisations and people are faced with the challenges of depending on each other for their security, prosperity and environmental sustainability.

Effective partnerships are essential in this 21st century world.

We understand that these challenges are not easily overcome. Working together in partnership, however, is our best chance of exploring and developing solutions that work for everyone.

Working in partnership we can draw on a wider range of ideas, knowledge and experience. In partnership we are better able to address our shared challenges and profit from the benefits.

The business of cultural relationships

Business relationships are commonplace. There are diplomatic relationships that exist between governments. Beyond the fields of economics and politics, however, there are wider relationships for shared benefit that exist between people, between organisations and between countries: cultural relationships.

'It is quite clear today that if we do not understand the cultural relationship with the countries we are dealing with, we are not going to have either good business or political relationships. We need to understand the difference, we need to understand the diversity issues.' (Deputy Head of Mission in Georgia)

The British Council is a charity that has worked for 75 years in partnership with businesses, national associations and institutions, professional networks, local communities and government ministries in order to establish the trust and understanding required for the growth of cultural relationships. We work on behalf of the UK to encourage educational, cultural, scientific and economic co-operation.

Partnering with us will give your organisation access to global audiences and markets, intercultural expertise and a trusted global brand. A partnership with the British Council is a partnership with a leader in the business of cultural relationships.
