What we offer
We offer six main areas of benefit to partnering organisations:
Achieve your corporate or business aims
Every organisation and institution, whether of the state, civil society or private sector, struggles with the question of how they will better realise their long and short-term goals. Increasingly, organisations understand that their businesses cannot exist and develop separately from their societies and cultures. The British Council can offer you the relationships required to help you develop a corporate social responsibility agenda, become involved in development and reform programmes, and together discover new ways to deliver your business successfully.
Each year, we work with over 300 international organisations to help them meet their strategic and business aims through cultural relations.
Add new value to your brand
The British Council’s global brand is trusted all round the world. It has a 75-year track record in helping large numbers of peoples and organisations. It represents the best the UK has to offer and is built upon the values of creativity, integrity, mutuality, professionalism and people. Whether you are looking to sponsor, co-brand, procure naming rights or take on the status of an official partner, we can add value to your own brand.
Last year with UNICEF and UK Sport, we trained 250 young leaders in Brazil to work with over 5,000 children in order to tackle community issues through sport. In East Asia, we built a network of 500 young leaders from 11 countries and provided them with training in leadership, project management and sustainable development to help them develop projects in their local communities to address the challenges of climate change. We supported the exchange of 4,400 community volunteers between the UK and 24 countries in the Middle East and Africa.
Access new markets and audiences
The British Council has a presence in more than 100 countries and in every region of the world. We engage groups of people at all levels of society. Whether you’re interested in engaging new cultures or building international co-operation, the British Council can broker the relationships you need.
We work with over 10,000 decision-makers and leaders each year and we connect with 250 million people a year.
Act through global programmes
It is in the interests of everyone to see programmes for positive reform and development succeed, for we all share in the benefits of a world that is more secure, is more prosperous and has a sustainable environment. The British Council has a proven track-record and a reputation for excellence in designing, administering and delivering such programmes globally. Partnership with us gives you access to our experience, skills and extensive network of relationships in programme management.
Each year, at least 15 million people are directly involved in our programmes.
Augment your skills
With the increasing pace of globalisation, it’s more important now than ever before that your organisation knows how to relate to customers, staff and partners from other cultures. The British Council is a market leader in ‘soft skills’ development, cross-cultural communication, English language training provision and innovative approaches to learning and development. If you are looking for a consultancy, training provider or skills and qualifications framework, we can help you.
1.5 million teachers of English each year take part in the professional development and networking opportunities we provide.
Above all
With its 7,000 staff around the world and set of long-term relationships, the British Council has a world of research, knowledge, expertise, experience and ideas to share. Perhaps you’re looking to develop a new product or programme that requires international partners. Maybe you’re looking to internationalise your organisation. You might be looking for advice on how to work across cultural boundaries. Or you might just want to act on the general desire to do something in the area of cultural relations for the good of different countries and peoples. If so, then why not talk to us?
In a recent survey, 82% of our partners said that the British Council opens doors internationally that no other organisation can.
